Principal Investigator

Yinuo "Noah" Yao

Yinuo "Noah" Yao

Principal Investigator

Yinuo “Noah” Yao is an Assistant Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Texas A&M University and leads the MSCE Lab. His research combines modeling, simulations, and experiments to study water treatment, resource recovery, and energy storage across multiple scales. He received his Ph.D. from Stanford University and his B.Eng. from the National University of Singapore.

Researchers

Soyoung Kim

Soyoung Kim

Ph.D. Student

Soyoung Kim joined the lab in Fall 2023 as a Ph.D. student in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Texas A&M University. She earned her B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Seoul. Her research focuses on interactions between flow, transport, and biofilm growth, using computational methods to study environmental systems.

Yichen Shen (Co-advising)

Yichen Shen (Co-advising)

Ph.D. Student

Yichen Shen is a Ph.D. student in Environmental Engineering at Texas A&M University, co-advised with Dr. Chengling Wu. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering from Nanjing Tech University and her master’s degree at the Institute of Soil Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Her research combines sensors and mathematical modeling to study transport and interface processes in plant, soil, and environmental systems.

Zhongyu Shi

Zhongyu Shi

Ph.D. Student

Zhongyu Shi is a Ph.D. student in Environmental Engineering at Texas A&M University. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Soochow University and his master’s degree from Lehigh University, where he studied direct air capture of carbon dioxide. His research uses microfluidic experiments to investigate biofilms and particle transport in porous media.
